Caldwell, ID– Today, Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. and Primary Health Medical Group announced the Treasure Valley’s newest offering of health care services – “The Clinic at Walmart” operated by Primary Health Medical Group. This convenient care clinic will open November 17, 2008 at 8:30 a.m. in the Walmart Supercenter located at 5108 E. Cleveland Blvd. in Caldwell. The clinic will provide affordable access to basic, quality health care services such as minor illnesses, screenings and immunizations. The walk-in health clinic is the first of its kind in the state of Idaho to be opened in a Walmart Supercenter. The clinic will be open for walk-in service seven days a week, with hours from 8:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturdays and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sundays.
“We are interested in increasing access to health care for the 185,000 Idahoans who are enrolled in Medicaid,” says Department of Health and Welfare Director Richard Armstrong. “Access to affordable health care is one of the most critical issues facing Idahoans. Providing basic acute care in a convenient location such as Walmart at convenient times makes it easier for people to seek treatment early. Additionally, this can reduce the high cost of unnecessary emergency room visits. We commend Primary Health Medical Group and Walmart for undertaking this partnership.”
“Our mission is to provide the highest quality medical care that is accessible to the residents of the Treasure Valley,” said David Peterman, M.D., President of Primary Health Medical Group. “With economical challenges that many Idahoans are facing, including higher health insurance deductibles, and decreasing health insurance benefits, the clinic that we will operate in the Caldwell Walmart Supercenter will offer patients an affordable alternative for basic health concerns and limited wellness care. We believe that we will provide greater access and affordability to care for the insured, uninsured or underinsured members of our community.”
With more than 15 years of experience delivering quality health care services in the community, Primary Health Medical Group is confident this new vehicle will integrate seamlessly into the health care landscape of the Treasure Valley, increasing accessibility for patients. “The Clinic at Walmart operated by Primary Health Medical Group” will offer quality health care at affordable prices, administered by trusted Primary Health Medical Group providers. To further increase the affordability of services, The Clinic at Walmart will bill health insurance plans on behalf of patients, limiting the “out of pocket” amount paid by patients to their individual co-pays. Primary Health Medical Group currently bills over 2,000 different types of insurances and will continue to offer this service to patients at The Clinic at Walmart.
“We are constantly looking for ways to add value for our customers and, with this clinic, we hope to provide Treasure Valley customers with affordable, accessible and convenient health care,” said Karianne Fallow, Wal-Mart’s senior manager of public affairs and government relations. “And because Primary Health Medical Group is a well-known and respected health care provider in the community, our customers will benefit from the convenience of prompt, professional care from an organization that they know and trust.”
In addition to enhancing the ‘one-stop shopping’ experience for customers, The Clinic at Walmart offers prompt access to affordably priced acute and preventive care for common health ailments treatable without urgent or emergency care, including sore throats, sinus infections, upper respiratory infections, earaches, bladder infections, insect bites and stings, cholesterol screening, blood sugar testing, vaccinations, drug screening and routine physicals.
With the opening of this clinic, there will be 44 in-store clinics in Walmart stores across 10 states. For further information about “The Clinic at Walmart”, please visit www.walmart.com/clinics.
