ROADY’S HUMANITARIAN BOWL ANNOUNCES SUPPORT OF OPTIMIST YOUTH FOOTBALL AND DISCOUNT TICKETS FOR 2009 GAME
Bowl Provided $176,000 in Similar Charitable Contributions to Idaho Communities from
Last Year’s Game
Boise, Idaho – (August 29, 2009) – The Roady’s Humanitarian Bowl today announced its commitment to support Optimist Youth Football of Southwest Idaho with cash, in-kind services and support as part of the 2009 Bowl program. As a central element of this support, the Bowl revealed a discount ticket package for buyers with up to $5.00 donated to Optimist Youth Football for each Bowl ticket sold until October 24, 2009. Proceeds will be used for Optimist players in financial need.
“We’re delighted to be the recipient of this generous gesture of partnership with the Roady’s Humanitarian Bowl,” said Jerron Moore, Optimist Youth Football Executive Director. “These funds will be essential in fulfilling our mission of allowing each child to experience the lifelong lessons of football – teamwork, dedication and sportsmanship. Humanitarian is in the Bowl’s brand and clearly that is a commitment of this outstanding Idaho-based organization.”
As part of the ticketing program, newly discounted tickets of $12.00 for end zone, $17.00 for upper deck and $42.00 for premium seating will be offered, representing a significant discount of normal pricing. Boosting the fan’s benefit from this 2009 discount, as much as $5.00 will be donated to Optimist Youth Football for each ticket sold. Interested buyers will be able to secure coupons from volunteers at Optimist games throughout the season for ticket purchase at www.idahotickets.com/presale, www.optimistyouthfootball.com, www.humanitarianbowl.org and in-person at Bronco Stadium.
“We wanted to make tickets affordable to fans in today’s economy while providing the opportunity to give back to the community which is a hallmark of this Bowl,” said Kevin McDonald, Roady’s Humanitarian Bowl Executive Director. The Bowl, featuring teams from the Western Athletic Conference and Mountain West Conference, will be held at Bronco Stadium on Wednesday, December 30, 2009, at 2:30 p.m. MDT and televised on ESPN.
Last year, the Bowl provided $176,000 in charitable contributions to Idaho communities in the form of cash and in-kind services such as tickets and food. Recipient organizations in 2008 included: Big Brothers Big Sisters of Southwestern Idaho, Idaho Air National Guard, Mountain Home Air Force Base, Optimist Youth Football, Ronald McDonald House, The National Football Foundation Southern Idaho Chapter, Treasure Valley YMCA, Women’s and Children’s Alliance, and the World Sports Humanitarian Hall of Fame.
