Two-Point Conversion Propels Idaho to Thrilling Victory, 43-42
BOISE, Idaho – The University of Idaho Vandals scored a two-point conversion with four seconds remaining to beat the Bowling Green State University Falcons, 43-42, in the Roady’s Humanitarian Bowl, providing the highest-scoring contest in the Bowl’s 13-year history. The game featured 990-yards of total offense with three lead-changes in the fourth quarter, providing an exciting finish for the spirited crowd of more than 26,700.
Bowling Green’s wide-receiver Freddie Barnes caught a 51-yard pass from quarterback Tyler Sheehan with 32-seconds remaining in the game to take a 42-35 lead, but Idaho countered with a quick strike from quarterback Nathan Enderle to wide-receiver Max Komar to put them in position to tie the game. The Vandals opted for a two-point conversion and scored the winning points on a Preston Davis reception from Enderle, sealing the victory for Idaho.
Idaho running back DeMaundray Woolridge rushed for 126 yards on 22 carries with two touchdowns and was named the Bowl’s overall Most Valuable Player. The game also featured the outstanding achievements of Freddie Barnes. Barnes set an NCAA Football Bowl Subdivision record for the most receptions in a single season (155). Barnes finished with 17 catches for 219 yards and three touchdowns, all Roady’s Humanitarian Bowl records.
“This was a truly great game between two teams that left everything they had on the field of play,” said Kevin McDonald, executive director of the Roady’s Humanitarian Bowl. “I applaud the players, the universities and the fans for contributing to one of the best games in the Bowl’s history.”
The Roady’s Humanitarian Bowl is the only bowl game in the United States that has humanity in its brand. The Bowl recognizes the positive impact teams, coaches and student-athletes have in their communities and their leadership roles in promoting humanitarian efforts.
