COEUR d’ALENE, ID -- The insights of global and Northwest experts are driving the fast pace of registrations for an Urban Land Institute forum on a precious commodity in northern Idaho and the region -- water.
Registration is brisk for the event, scheduled June 24 at 7:30 a.m. at the Parkside Event Center in Coeur d’Alene. Cost of the forum is $45 for members of the public, with significant discounts for members of Urban Land Institute and elected officials.
The Infrastructure 2010 forum – Investment Imperative Focus on Water: Do We Have a Problem or Not? – includes a panel discussion led by experts from the Pacific Northwest and a global expert from Urban Land Institute’s Washington, D.C. headquarters. Coeur d’Alene Mayor Sandy Bloom will welcome the experts and participants.
“Is Idaho facing a future water crisis, and, if so, what could be the impacts to our communities and our economy?” asks Idaho Lieutenant Governor Brad Little, who will participate in a forum at the Boise event. “If we do have a problem, what should be our next steps?”
Panelists include: Dr. Christian Petrich, principal at Boise-based SPF Water Engineering and a former senior member of the faculty at the University of Idaho; Clay Larkin, mayor of Post Falls; Todd Mielke, Spokane County Commissioner; Paul Klatt, JUB Engineers; and moderator Brian Ballard, partner and real estate law specialist at the Boise-based law firm Hawley Troxell.
Infrastructure 2010 -- the fourth edition of the ULI / Ernst and Young publication detailing the critical need for infrastructure investment and this year focusing on aging water infrastructure, supply, pollution and management – is included in each forum registration. ULI Senior Fellow Tom Murphy will offer a keynote speech at the forum.
