BOISE, ID -- The insights of global and Northwest experts are driving the fast pace of registrations for an Urban Land Institute forum on a precious commodity in this arid region -- water.
Registration is brisk for the event, scheduled June 23 at 7:30 a.m. at the Owyhee Plaza Hotel in Boise. Cost of the forum is $65 for members of the public, with significant discounts for members of Urban Land Institute and public sector officials.
“Is Idaho facing a future water crisis, and, if so, what could be the impacts to our communities and our economy?” asks Idaho Lieutenant Governor Brad Little, who will participate in a forum at the Boise event. “If we do have a problem, what should be our next steps?”
Panelists include: Brad Little, Lieutenant Governor; Mark Bowen, principal of global engineering firm CH2M Hill’s Boise office; Dr. Christian Petrich, principal at Boise-based SPF Water Engineering and a former senior member of the faculty at the University of Idaho; Clay Landry, principal of water rights marketing firm WestWater; and moderator Chris Meyer, partner at Boise-based law firm Givens Pursley and the founder of the Idaho Environmental Forum.
The Infrastructure 2010 forum – Investment Imperative Focus on Water: Do We Have a Problem or Not? – includes a panel discussion led by experts from southern Idaho and a global leader from Urban Land Institute’s Washington, D.C. headquarters – ULI Senior Fellow Tom Murphy, the former mayor of Pittsburgh.
Infrastructure 2010 -- the fourth edition of the ULI / Ernst and Young publication detailing the critical need for infrastructure investment, and this year focusing on aging water infrastructure, supply, pollution and management – is included in each forum registration.
